Yesterday in our Art Room Ms. Liz taught our members all about lighting and shadow effects in photography. The used styrofoam shapes and a lamp to create interesting shadows and lighting on a white backdrop. The kids had a blast learning all about how to use light to their advantage. They created some really fantastic photos!
All of us here at Grenville Baker Boys & Girls Club wish you and your families a Happy and Healthy New Year! As we enter the New Year, we are thankful for the blessings of the year gone by and to all those who have supported the Club so generously. Over the years, your loyalty and care has allowed us to be a positive influence in the lives of generations of young people here on the North Shore.
On the last day before the holiday break, Ms. Liz decided host a special “Snowflake Show” in the Art Room. Members were invited inside to make snowflakes of all different shapes, sizes, and colors using scissors, paper, and tape, They were hung all around the room and when everyone was done all members were invited inside to enjoy the winter wonderland they had created. It was amazing to see all of the different snowflakes and get in the spirit of the holidays right before the break!
Each year to celebrate the anniversary of the Boston Tea Party, Mr. Seth and Mr. Marc teach our kids all about the historic event and reenact the historic moment. Dressing up as Native Americans using the headdresses they made in our Art Room with Ms. Liz, our members head to the Marina with Mr. Marc to confront the angry British Red Coat played by Mr. Seth. Our members distract him and tie him up so they can dump the English Tea into the water. Our members and Mr. Marc then escape to the Club bus before the Red Coat can free himself, heading back to the Club to celebrate their victory with some delicious hot chocolate.
