Dance Programs

We are so excited to announce that Miss Caitlyn will be the instructor at the Club for our dance programs.

Miss Caitlyn, former owner/director of Maryann's Dance Studio has been dancing since the age of 5. She has her BA in dance from Hofstra University and is trained in ballet, tap, jazz, musical theater, modern, lyrical, contemporary and hip hop. 

There are many advantages to choosing dance for your child. Dance increases control, speed, agility and balance as well as improves posture and body alignment. Dance also teaches teamwork and provides a fun form of exercise for children!

Classes start September 2022 and will run until June 2023.

First class September 16 & 17, 2022 Last class June 2 & 3, 2023

November 11 & 12, 25 & 26, 2022 • December 23 & 24, 30 & 31, 2022
February 24 & 25, 2023 • April 7 & 8, 14 & 15, 2023 • May 26 & 27, 2023

Fee: $450.00 for each program
30 classes per program at $15.00 a class

Payment in full is required. There are no refunds for missed classes.

All program participants must have an active Annual General Membership to the Grenville Baker Boys & Girls Club. ($80.00) Limited space.

Dance Program Descriptions

Ballet

K-1st Saturday 9:30 a.m. - 10:10 a.m: A beginner ballet class for age 5-6. This class will incorporate the basic fundamentals of dance with a fun and entertaining environment. Students will learn the foundations of dance that will be used for the rest of their dance career.

*Students should come prepared with leotard and tights. (any color) Pink ballet shoes. Dancers may wear dance skirts.

Grades 2-3 Ballet: Ballet class for grades 2 and 3. We will work on the fundamentals of ballet technique while expanding our skills, flexibility and performance abilities. This class will incorporate fun exercises to teach students the necessary elements of ballet, which is the building block for all other dance forms.

Ballet/Lyrical Combo

Grades 2-3 Saturday 10:15 a.m. - 10:55 a.m.: Ballet class for grades 2 and 3. We will work on the fundamentals of ballet technique while expanding our skills, flexibility and performance abilities. This class will incorporate fun exercises to teach students the necessary elements of ballet, which is the building block for all other dance forms.

*Students should come prepared with leotard and tights. (any color) Pink ballet shoes. Dancers may wear dance skirts. Students should also be prepared with Nude/Pink Ballet Pirouette Shoes.

Jazz/Hip Hop

Grade 4-6 Friday 6:30 p.m. - 7:10 p.m.: Jazz/hip hop class for grades 4 through 6. A fun and upbeat class, mixing traditional jazz technique with a hip hop flare. We will be working on improving our technique and emotional execution as dancers.

*Students should come prepared with  tan jazz slip on booties and new pair of white sneakers, any style, worn only in the studio, exclusively for dance. 

Tap

Grades 7-12 Saturday 11:45 a.m. - 12:25 p.m.: A high level tap class where students with focus on technique, skills, rhythm and musicality. Dancers will build upon their tap foundations to hone their skills and enhance performance techniques.

*Students should come prepared with leotard and tights. (black leotard preferred) Caramel lace up flat tap shoes. Dancers may wear soffe shorts, spandex shorts, or dance skirts.

Jazz/Leaps and Turns

Grades 7-12 Saturday 11:00 a.m. - 11:40 a.m.: A jazz class with an emphasis on technique for leaps and turns.

*Students should come prepared with tan jazz slip on booties.

Lyrical

Grades 4-6 Friday 5:15 p.m. - 5:55 p.m.: A lyrical style class for grades 4 and 5. We will work on building our technique, musicality, skills and emotional execution through dance.

*Students should come prepared with Nude/Pink Ballet Pirouette Shoes. Dancers may wear soffe shorts.

Hip Hop

Grades 1-3 Friday 5:00 p.m. - 5:40 p.m.: A hip hop class for grades 1 through 3. Students will work on musicality and technique in hip hop. It will be a fun, upbeat class.

*Students should come prepared with a new pair of white sneakers, any style, worn only in the studio, exclusively for dance.

Contemporary

Grades 7-12 Saturday 12:30 p.m. - 1:10 p.m.: A high level contemporary class where we will focus on technique, execution and performance. Dancers will learn choreography as well as tap into their own creativity and expression through dance.

*Students should come prepared with leotard and tights. (black leotard preferred) Nude Pirouette Shoes. Dancers may wear shorts, spandex shorts or dance skirts.

All boys:

NO JEANS, sweatpants/shorts, and t-shirts
