Grenville Baker Virtual Summer Fun!

Even though we may not be together we still can have fun!

Here is the plan!

We have created Summer Fun for All Age Groups!

Adventure Week!

As always, if you have any questions, you can email us.

Each group’s program directors’ info is below each week’s schedule

Week Of August 10

Grades 1-4

MONDAY

Science Experiment!

Supplies:

Small container of Cola or Diet Cola

Mentos

Drop two Mentos into a bottle of normal Cola or Diet Cola. Once you drop the Mentos into the soda, stand back, it’s explosive. The trick is to drop the Mentos in as fast as you can. If too much of the fizz escapes before you add the Mentos the reaction won’t be as good.

TUESDAY

Outside Fun!

Spend the day outside, go on a walk or maybe explore a new hiking trail with your family. At the end of the night, you can either make a fort or if you have a tent, sleep under the stars!

WEDNESDAY

Make An Adventure Book

During this time, we sometimes forget what we did, what happened or what the world around us was like.

Take this time, to write down things you did with your family, fun moment or maybe some new things you learned!

THURSDAY

Travel Day!

Rockets

-A rocket is a missile, spacecraft, aircraft or other vehicle that obtains thrust from a rocket engine. A rocket’s engine is powered by action and reaction, which is Newton’s third law. Using reactions to create a rocket, the use of alka seltzer and different temperature water will be propelling this rocket.

Materials- film canister, a packet of alka seltzer, cold and hot water, paper, makers, scissors, tape and outside space.

Direction:

  • In a separate container warm water (please use caution, hot water is hot and may cause burns). Get cold water
  • Use paper, markers, tape and scissors to decorate your rocket.
  • Test it! Place alka seltzer and water in the canister; close the canister with the lid. Place it on the ground and watch. Determine if the temperature of the water or the amount of alka seltzer will make a difference in the height of your rocket.
