Special Events

Grenville Baker’s many Special Events are a way to honor and celebrate those who have helped make the Club a staple in the community and provide great futures for countless children. Our Special Events also serve as fundraisers to support the Club and its many exciting programs.

June Dance

On June 2, Grenville Baker Boys & Girls Club held a Blue & White Gala for its 68thAnnual June Dance at The Creek Beach Club. More than 350 people were in attendance to applaud this year’s Hall of Fame inductees and the Club’s New York State Youth of the Year, Larissa Izaguirre.

The induction marked the Tenth Anniversary of the Club’s Hall of Fame. The list of inductees included Eileen Duffy, Elizabeth and Frank Ingrassia, and Jean and Scott Simensky. The Dance Committee, chaired by Andrea Cilmi, Libby Imperio, Dawn Kallman, and Melissa Meister, worked hard to develop the Gala’s theme for this fun event using a color scheme of blue and white mixed with accents of pink and orange throughout.

Cocktails were served against the backdrop of the Long Island Sound. During the cocktail hour, Judge Colin O’Donnell, a Club alumnus, past President, and current board member, introduced each inductee and presented them with an award and a Community Brick to be placed at the Club’s entrance. The honorees and our Youth of the Year also received a citation from Town of Oyster Bay Supervisor Joseph Saladino, Nassau County Assemblyman Josh Lafazan, and New York State Senator Carl Marcellino.

Each year since the first June Dance in 1950, this gala event has been Grenville Baker’s single largest fundraising event, making it possible for the Club to fulfill its mission to inspire and enable all young people to reach their potential as productive, responsible, and caring citizens and community leaders of tomorrow. After the live auction, an enthusiastic group of party goers danced the night away and this annual event was once again an enormous success.

Old Fashioned Clam Bake

Alumni & Friends Golf Tournament
The Alumni and Friends Golf Tournament is an annual Fall event featuring breakfast, golf, lunch on the course, dinner, and an auction. It is an all-day affair All proceeds from the event and auction are used to help run our incredible programs for our kids at the Club.

Our day begins with breakfast and an open practice range. After breakfast, our players enjoy a full round of golf featuring contests for lowest gross individual scores, closest to the pin, longest drive, lowest gross team score, most accurate drive, and beat the pro. The following dinner includes the presentation of awards to our honorees as well as an auction featuring many great items and outings.

The Alumni and Friends Golf Tournament is one of the most fun-filled events we host and is a favorite among all attendees.

Clothing Sale
The Club’s Annual Clothing Sale is our second largest annual fundraiser that spans an entire week in October. Our downstirs gym becomes the clothing store of your dreams offering designer and contemporary fashions, accessories, and footwear for women, men, and children, as well as exciting items for the home.

Our sale features unbelievable fashions at incredible prices with all items replenished daily. The sale is staffed by our incredible group of volunteers who make sure that your shopping experience is the best it can be.

Leaders’ Circle Reception
Our Club and its success has been made possible thanks to many who have come before and dedicated so much of their time to making the Club the place it is today. Each November we honor these Club pioneers at our annual Leader’s Circle Reception.

The Leader’s Circle Reception, held in the Club’s upstairs gym, features food, drinks, and desserts graciously donated by over twenty local vendors and businesses. Honorees, volunteers, and their families are invited to enjoy an evening where the Club and Staff do what they can to give back to those who have already given us so much of themselves.

At the Reception we also welcome new members into the Club’s Hall of Fame. Our Hall of Fame is comprised of those who left a strong and lasting impression on the fabric of our Club and it is with great pleasure that we honor those who have helped mold the Club into the amazing place it is for kids today.

The Hall of Fame Class of 2016 was Ann Conn, George H. Bullen, Richard W. Hagner, Patrick Mackay, Anita Meltzer, and Rosalind Walter.
