Scholarships – Feb. 14, 2018

Throughout its history, Grenville Baker Boys & Girls Club has connected aspiring students to scholarship opportunities here at the Club. Last year, we awarded $19,000 in scholarships to local teens. Over the years, the Club’s scholarship program has been generously funded by our supporters.  High school seniors who have not only demonstrated outstanding academic achievement but have also shown excellence in areas of leadership, community service and involvement in the Club are encouraged to apply.  Every year, these recipients are exceptional young men and women who are truly deserving of the accolades they receive.

The goal of the Club’s scholarship program is to enable our young people to reach their full academic and professional potential and to help them to pay for the expense of a college education. Scholarship recipients are selected and interviewed by the Club’s Scholarship Committee comprised of members of our staff, Board of Directors and community. We are very fortunate to be able to offer multiple scholarships to our local teens for 2018, thanks to the generosity of our community.

Scholarship applications are available online, at the Club’s front desk and the Locust Valley High School Guidance Department. To download the form online, go to www.gbbgc.org and click on the Home tab and then Online Forms. Applicants must be a senior in high school and a current member or previous member of the Club for at least one year.  Completed applications include an essay, a high school transcript and two letters of recommendation.  This completed scholarship packet is due at the Club no later than Monday, March 26, 2018.  Qualified applicants will then be contacted for an interview with the Scholarship Committee.

It is very rewarding for me personally to see the character and quality of the young people who apply and I am very proud of the role the Club has played in their lives.  Students and parents who are interested in learning about the Club’s scholarships should contact the Club at (516) 676-1460.
